I Hate Flying

I hate flying, but if they ever produce one of these planes, I'll take a ride. I saw this on Digg, but the picture is from a Popular Mechanics article from a while ago (I hear). These planes are based on a Boeing blended wing design which supposedly provides a lot more passenger room than traditional "tube" designs.

Check out this other design from Boeing called the Sonic Cruiser. If produced, it would have flown at nearly the speed of sound. It was abandoned for the crappy-looking airplane below (Boeing 787).

Wow, cool looking planes. Now, if I can just get you inside one of them...

Honestly, does anyone really believe Al would fly in the radical, futuristic wing? I can hear the excuse already ---- "there's no way I'm getting in a plane that uses new, unproven technology." As for the 787 Dreamliner, it's the Prius of the sky -- uses lightweight, composite materials, and gets great gas mileage, perfect for guilt-ridden liberals like Al :-)
